I have wished for the functionality this new display brings for as long as I have been using both my cnc sharks.

I got my new 10.1 ” pendant. WOW what a difference. So many new functions that were not available on my old pendant. After a hiccup or two and with the excellent help from Next Wave Technical support, it is running. I was pleasantly surprised when there were more new features than I expected. I especially like the step/jog selection which really helps to set the starting point zero. I used the restart from Line # and just sat back in my chair in amazement when it just worked perfectly! The tap file info screen is great and no scrolling seems to be required when double checking the bit information, start point, etc. There is even an “air cut” selection but I haven’t tried it yet. The included mounting arm is excellent. The screen is about 2 1/2 times larger than the original which is nice for old eyes. Make sure you have all the latest firmware and it will run fine.

I started with the small pendant on my HD5 and converted to use my laptop computer to run my CNC jobs. Is this new pendant better than using my computer to run jobs?

Mike, depends on what you are looking for, it has all the same functions allowed via using the computer, however not have to subject a computer to this environment to us is viewed as a big bonus, you can also save files to the pendant for re-use, better visuals, and new enhancements to rastering coming soon.
Will this pendant allow me to run Vectric software? If not can I link to a shred drive by my internal wifi to access my files?
No the pendant does not have the capability to run the Vectric program, it does allow you to store programs inside the pendant by downloading them from a flash drive. While it can update firmware via wifi, it will not access your drive via wifi at this time.

upgraded to the 10.1″ screen as soon as it came out. Wow what a game changer for me. So much better to see and use especially at my age to see and touch the controls on it. quick question about the antenna on it. How/what can I use it. Haven’t seen any anything on it for wifi settings.
Hi John, glad to hear you like the new pendant, and I agree what a difference it made for me. As for the antenna, I reached out to the support team and here is the low down on it. It’s usually best to send these questions into support@nextwavecnc.com for a quicker answer.
Wi-Fi was made available in the 1.0.7 version of the software. Wi-Fi is only used for checking for and downloading firmware updates.
In order to get this update, you will need to log into Ready2Update – Firmware and download the latest version to a flash drive.
After downloading the firmware to a flash drive, plug the flash drive into the Pendant, and go into Settings > Info and press the ‘Check for Updates’ button.
After completing the firmware update, go back into the Settings and there will be a new ‘Pendant’ option. In this menu will be ‘Network Setup’.
Once ‘Network Setup’ is pressed, the Wi-Fi menu will open, choose your Wi-Fi network and enter your password.
After connecting to the internet, the Pendant will be able to use the Wi-Fi connection to check for new Controller and Pendant firmware updates.
